The Hunt shows a cheetah chasing two Thompson's Gazelles through the grasslands.
In the wild, Thomson's gazelles (Eudorcas thomsonii) can live 10 to15 years. Their major predators are cheetahs, which are able to attain higher speeds, but gazelles can outlast them in long chases and are able to make turns more speedily. This small antelope-gazelle can run extremely fast, from 50 mph to 60 mph and zigzag, a peculiarity which often saves it from predators. I was born in Wales and now live in California having had the good fortune to visit most of Europe and some of America along the way. I find almost everything around me to be an inspiration. I work mostly in pencil and acrylics but I will experiment with any medium to achieve the effects I desire. I love to draw animals, from pets to wildlife. Some of my portraits are quite silly intended to bring a smile, others have a more serious message.
