Description
These abstracts are digital manipulations from photographs of the peristyle, or covered walkway that surrounds the formal garden at the Getty Villa in Los Angeles. The Getty Villa is modeled after a first-century Roman country house, the Villa dei Papiri in Herculaneum, Italy. Walking through the house and garden inspired thought about the rise and fall of such ancient civilizations. This later became translated into these pieces.
