Artist's Description
A vibrant abstract in red and grey from a photograph of a Scarborough Lily.
The Scarborough lily (Cyrtanthus elatus) is a bulbous flowering plant which originates from the Cape Province of South Africa Other common names are fire lily or George lily.
Cultivated varieties of the Scarborough lily have flowers which may be bright red, orange, yellow, or occasionally pink or white. The stems can grow to a height of up to 2 feet. They are relatively easy to grow, and can be grown in pots. They require either full sun or slight shade. They flower in late summer or early fall.
About Stephanie Grant
I was born in Wales and now live in California having had the good fortune to visit most of Europe and some of America along the way. I find almost everything around me to be an inspiration. I work mostly in pencil and acrylics but I will experiment with any medium to achieve the effects I desire. I love to draw animals, from pets to wildlife. Some of my portraits are quite silly intended to bring a smile, others have a more serious message. My 'Barely There' collection of mixed media works represent a few of the fast disappearing exotic species. I often work with minimal colour palette but occasionally go all out. It all depends on my mood. I think my motto if I had one would be 'You're never too old to learn.' I've just...
